We are Liberty Hill Farm, in Rochester, Vermont! Tours run Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 9 am. Our farm tours are scheduled to coincide with daily chores to allow guests the opportunity to experience daily farm life. Guests will be able to watch the cow milking process and even try their hand at milking! From there, we will explain the journey from cow to milk jug. Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and meet kitties. Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! We simply love to share our love of farming and our animals with others! ***All proceeds from our farm tours go directly to our nonprofit organization, Liberty Hill Center for Agricultural Education. *** Other things to note: I only book about a month in advance, so if your preferred date does not appear, check back! A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour recreational and educational goat experience. You'll meet your hosts (and our herd of Alpine dairy goats), and hear about their 16 years of experience with goats and living on a small family farm. Once we've met the goats and the many other animals residents of the farm, we’ll set off on a hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with the goats and Philip our sheep! The hike consists of an approximately one and a half mile loop trail through our woods on lightly groomed trails. Along the way we’ll talk about goats as pack animals, what they eat, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. There's lots of time for interacting with the goats, asking questions, or just soaking in the Maine woods and these adorable, fun animals. We end the experience with fresh goat milk and homemade cookies! Please note: Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. 5 and 6 year olds should plan to hold a parent's hand during the hike. (Children under 4 must be carried). Other things to note: The hike is not strenuous, but there is a little bit of steep terrain in 2 spots. We have rope railings on the trail to assist with getting up and down in those spots, but guests who have bad knees, hips, or other difficulties with uneven or steep terrain should be aware.

Our life philosophy is EAT ANYTHING, ANYWHERE. We like eating some of the best foods, in odd places. We will meet on the docks of East Boston where we will tear into and slurp dozens of local oysters, harvested by our oyster farmer friends, while looking over the harbor and skyline. You will learn how to properly shuck an oyster and will go home with a shucking knife of your own. The memories will be in the details. We will set up in "flash-mob" "pop-up" style along the water. Expect the unexpected. Other things to note This is an outdoor experience. To get to the dock, I encourage you to take a water taxi! There are several pick-up points and I am happy to help arrange this for you.

I can take up to 2 people per class and we will make ONE wood bowl together. I will start by showing a couple of videos of what we will be doing, followed by safety instructions before we dive in. No prior experience is required. I provide active hands-on instruction, demonstrations and enthusiastic encouragement. You will make all the creative decisions of wood type, bowl shape and size etc. I offer a selection of woods to choose from including locally harvested hardwoods purchased from me directly on the day of the class. NOTE! I can schedule this event any time or day - just let me know what day or time you want. Other things to note: Plan on getting covered in shavings! Wear work clothes and roll up long sleeves, remove watches and bracelets and long hair must be tied back. I will provide all safety equipment and advice. A materials fee of $12 to $30 covers the wood blank.

We can start your ride anytime, just ask prior to booking so I can adjust the timing on our booking. My experience begins at the Sewall Woods recreational area, where guests are provided hard tail mountain bikes, helmets and water. I’ll explain how your bikes work and give tips along the way for those newer to trail riding. At Sewall woods we have about 4 miles of single track, mountain biking trail, through a quiet heavily wooded area. Once we’ve completed Sewall we will continue to the Fernald Station singletrack off the Cotton Valley railtrail. Here the trail rambles along the Wiley Brook for a mile or so, before winding back into the woods, for a few more miles of twisty singletrack. After we’ve completed our ride, I’m glad suggest places to eat of other fun things to do in the area. My experience is well suited for riders of all ages. You should be proficient on a bike and in good physical condition. We’ll ride at a pace that’s comfortable for everyone, but keep in mind, mountain biking is a demanding sport. Join Captain Joe for a relaxing private boat cruise over to our oyster farm where you will shuck and slurp oysters straight out of the water, and learn about our Shellfish Reef Restoration project. Feel free to bring along snacks and your favorite drink. I’ll make sure we have plenty of oysters and all the fixings for our favorite rum cocktail! This trip lasts 1.5-2 hours and is available for up to 6 people . Kids of all ages are welcome to come but I find that children ages 9+ get the most enjoyment out of this type of trip. I have a similar aquaculture trip that is designed for kids aged 4-13 if you are looking for a more family-friendly activity. I only host private groups and the total price including all fees is: $255 for up to 3 people, plus $85 for each additional person up to 6 max.

Lighthouse Bikes offers bicycle tours, close to a paved trail that connects the lighthouses of South Portland. Join us for a historic tour by bike to learn more about the rich history of this area while enjoying a leisurely ride! All bikes are classic Worksman cruisers with comfortable seats, handmade baskets perfect for picnicking and pedal brakes. Our tours cover topics from shipbuilding in Maine, to the local ecology, the history of the lighthouses and insider tips for folks new to the area. The ride is mostly flat and covers five miles.

This kayak tour will start at a local public kayak launch, with a brief lesson and safety demonstration. The tour will continue through the natural waterways as we spot wildlife against the primitive landscape. As we paddle alongside parks, canals, wooded shorelines, you'll take part in local stories and Maine made snacks. As we come to Babb's Bridge we will have ample opportunity for exploration, taking photos and stretching our legs! Other things to note A signed liability waiver is required

Guests will board from the dock and we will take a tour of the boat, briefly discuss safe sailing practices and answer any questions. We will sail on the Saco River into Saco Bay and view Wood Island Lighthouse, Biddeford Pool & Old Orchard Beach. We will keep on the look out for marine wildlife. We have seen seals, porpoises, sharks and even whales. We will watch the sun set and after return to the same dock on which the guests boarded.

(2-hrs Birding Experience) We will visit New Hampshire's Mt. Washington Valley in search of a wide variety of birds breeding, migrating, or overwintering in the area. We will visit the low-elevation northern hardwoods forest in search of the great number of wood warblers, vireos, and more. Guests can decide where we spend our time to add to their lifelist or to find birds not often seen. If you do not see a date and time fits your schedule, send an inquiry or request to me. I will greet my guest and tell them about myself I will give a tour of the property, direct them to my path to the beach, personal facilities to use in my home and make everyone feel comfortable. I will give a detail to the evening. I will have everyone watch my demonstrate and offer for anyone to participate in the meal. We will all sit around the large tables that are beautifully set and eat dinner. After or before dinner, depending on the time of day, I will encourage guests to take a walk along the water or watch the most amazing sunset over the water,

After quick personal introductions, and outfitting everyone with binocular sets, we will cover quick basics on binocular use. Some quick tips will help you practice, so you don't miss the good birds (you need to be fast, because the birds are fast). We will set out on foot to explore different habitats in the Fells in search of the diverse bird species residing or migrating through. As we see birds, we will not their ID characteristics including, colors, shape, behaviors, and songs. For our tour, we will develop a count-list of all the birds we observe (by sight and sound), and afterwards our observations will be entered into the eBird online database, where they can be used by scientists to understand bird population changes in the Fells. This tour can run at any time of year, although March-October is best. Currently the Fells has 163 documented species. Let's see if we can add some. Our boat, s/v Shearwater, is a classic plastic New England designed Pearson 10M. She is a comfortable live-aboard cruiser named for the birds that followed my wife and I across the Atlantic ocean during our voyage in 2022. Take a rest from the stress of the modern world and get ready to fall in love with group of energetic fun seeking Corgis as they take you on a unique journey to a special place where you find hidden dwellings and discover the secret treasure chests. BlissWood Forest is located in Coastal Maine one hour south of Acadia National Park. You will arrive at Corgi Bliss, in the town of Penobscot, on the edge of the forest. There you will meet your hosts, the Corgis along with Jennifer or Katie. Drinks will be offered, as well as a discussion about safety while walking with the corgis . We will set off on our journey through the fields, and into BlissWood Forest. The easy half-mile hike is well maintained and goes at a leisurely pace. The loose Corgis will be scurrying about ahead as they sniff the ground and try to pick up the scent of pixie dust. Help the Corgis find the hidden treasure chests and secret swellings along the path. We pause a lot for selfies, kisses and cuddles from the animals. Then we loop down the trail and return to Corgi Bliss, where drinks and snacks are to be had before saying our goodbyes. We will be outdoors in the fresh air and forest, wear layered clothing and shoes that protect your feet from the elements. Enjoy the earthy smells and forest sounds, and the corgis.
